Well, Jay turned 25 + 1 yesterday!!! We went to dinner with family and friends. He got some great gifts. Maddie gave him a gift card to a favorite store of his and promised to go rock climbing with him one day. Very cute!!!
Maddie went today for another belly button treatment. She STILL has some of the pink cord attached inside her belly button but, the doc' seems to think that this last treatment should do the trick. She also has gained another 2 oz since last thursday. She has done very well so far at her Gammie's house and seems to be adjusting to waking up earlier in the morning with us. She smiles, laughs, and plays all the time now. Its amazing how she has grown. She held a rattle tuesday evening and also seems to really like her teeting toys already. Im not sure if thats a sign of something or not!!

Ok, I know it has been a while since I last posted but I figured I would let you all know that there is new baby "crack" (the drug, not the butt split) starting at Week 8 posted for all of you Maddie Junkies :). I hope everyone is doing well and I will talk with you soon.
So...Maddie had her first day at Gammie's house and I had my first day back at work and....it went fine, of course! I knew it would be. I just miss Maddie when Im away from her for too long. Gammie said she had a great day smiling alot and waving at her Poppie. I had a good day too so, all is well.
Tomorrow is Jays birthday! He will be 25 + 1 ( his words)!! We are having family dinner out to celebrate.

So...Maddie had her 2 month check up on thursday the 24th. She now weighs a healthy 13lbs 9oz and is 23 3/4 inches!! She is doing fantastic. Apparently some of her umbilical cord did not fall off so the doctor had to apply some silver nitrate to her button in hopes that it would dry up but, the dried up part fell off already with more of the cord behind it. So, she has to go back next week for another treatment but apparently its very common.
Tomorrow is my first official day back at work which means its Maddie's first official day at her Gammie's house. Im not nervous but I am a liitle sad. Im kinda ready for this but I will miss her soooo much. I know that she is going to be in great hands with my grandma.
Well, I'll post again to let you know if I was able to work a full day or if I went to get Maddie early!!!
Okay so, Maddie went to her Gammie's house yesterday while I went to work...and it went fine. Apparently, she did great. She laughed and slept and ate and all the other cute 8 week old stuff. I was very happy when it was time to pick her up. I actually picked her up an hour early!!
Anyway, she continues to amaze us and we love her sooooo much!!!!!
Well, I have to go to work today for an open house thing and Maddie is going to her Gammie's house. I know it is only for a few hours but it is just a taste of what is to come.....going back to work for real!!!! I am very heart broken about it and I wish I could stay with her! I know that everything will be fine but I just dont want to miss out on anything with her!!! Ill post how the day went when I return!!!
We continue to do well. I have only 2 more weeks home with Maddie before I go back to work and she goes to her gammie's house. It has really been hiting me hard. Im going to miss her soooo much and miss our little routine that we have together. Im not sure how Im going to be able to do it. If I could, I would work maybe 3 days a week and stay home with her the other 2 days. Im sure I will feel better about it afterwards. For now, Im going to try and not think about it!
Maddie has somewhat made her sleeping hours at night. Its clockwork really. She wakes up between 4-6 in the morning and then sleeps again in our bed until about 10!!! WOW!! She will be 2 months old in 1 more week. I cant believe it! Time is really flying by so fast. She goes for her 2 month check up next wednesday where she will be getting 5 shots!! Im nervous for her. I dont want anyone hurting my baby!! She will be fine, I know! She has such a personality and always makes us laugh with her little coo sounds and smiles. We have video taped alot so far and plan on making a DVD later in her first year.
Well, wish Maddie luck and quick shots next week and wish the nurse giving the shots a speedy recovery...just jokin'! Take Care!!!!!
Well, since Jay got home Maddie has decided to not sleep through the night anymore. I guess she was just being good and helpful for her mommy while daddy was away. She is doing amazing though through the night. It takes a bit longer than we would like for her to actually stay asleep but she is normally asleep by 10 and then up again anywhere from 3-5!! Not too bad, huh?! Then its a quick changing and feeding and she's off to sleep again for a couple of hours. She has spoiled me really because she sleeps in bed with me in the mornings until 10 or longer. Ive gotta get us out of that habit before I go back to work.. It shouldnt be hard for her because she is waking up around 6-7 in the morning anyway. I just have been putting her in bed with me at that time, so...!
Our weekend was nice and busy. Maddie went to her first friends birthday party on saturday. Milia Robinson turned 1 year old. Her mom Smyrna has been a friend of mine since junior high school. Its really neat that we are still friends and both have little girls too! My mom and neice Sydney were Maddie's first babysitters saturday night so Jay and I could go out on a "date". We had a great dinner but apparently as soon as we left our house, Maddie fussed and fussed and only stopped briefly a couple of times. Im not sure what was going on with her. Maybe she knew mommy and daddy were leaving and she didnt agree with it! Sunday we visited Maddie's gammie and poppie who are my grandparents. Maddie will go to my grandparents house for her first year when I go back to work at the end of August. My grandma has been in the childcare field all her life so I feel very comfortable having Maddie with her.
Well, we have settled in really well as a family. Maddie "knows" us now and I think we "know" Maddie. She definately knows how to get her way already. Wow...are we in trouble?????!!!!
Well, Jay got back from New York today. He was gone for 4 days and 3 nights. I was really worried at first that I would be totally frazzled taking care of Maddie ALL by myself but, it turned out just fine. Maddie was great. She even slept 7-8 hours straight each night. Now thats fantastic, right??!! For some reason, now that daddy is home she is being miss fussy pants. Oh well!!
Maddie went for her 1 month check up. She weighs 11.6 pounds now and measures 21 3/4 inches...big girl but, so itty bitty to me of course! She has begun making adorable little baby sounds and sucks her little thumb on a regular basis. Its so cute! We have been able to get her on an every 2 1/2 hour feeding schedule which has helped ALOT. Before, she would just snack on me ALL day practically. I may have mentioned before that she now has a belly button so, she has real baths every night. She REALLY likes them now. She floats really!! The other great news is that she has been sleeping in her crib in her own room now for 1 whole week and its been working out great. She was sleeping in a play pen in our room but, now we are sleeping better too!!
Jay and I go on our first "date" since Maddie was born this saturday. I am very excited. My mom and Sydney are going to babysitt. Sydney is very excited to be helping.
Well, we continue to learn as a family but, I think we are doing pretty darn good. Maddie is growing like a weed and we just cant get enough of her!!!
