The countdown begins!!!

We have less than a month now before we should be meeting little Madison. She's been moving alot so Im not sure if that means that she's not ready...she's having too much fun in there??!! We are definatly ready for her. Ive been very uncomfortable but also just trying to enjoy these last few weeks as a pregnant woman. Pretty soon I wont be anymore but I'll have a beautiful baby girl instead. At this point lets hope she's a girl. We'd be in alot of trouble is she ended up a boy instead. I didnt really keep receipts if you know what I mean!!
Well, Jay and I are doing very well. We are going to yet another cookout this weekend to celebrate Memorial Day, I guess. It is supossed to be HOT, HOT, HOT! Im not really looking forward to that part so much. Jay loves the HOT weather. He says that any day where he can sweat stepping outside, is a great day. I say, he's crazy!! Ive been pretty fortunate though not to be pregnant for much of the really hot weather.
I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend full of fun in the sun. Take Care!

Busy times!!!

Well, we have had a great weekend so far. Busy but good. We celebrated my brothers birthday, again, at his house yesterday evening with a good old fashioned cookout. We had a great time. We always do. It was hilariuos to watch the kids dancing and singing to the music. Late in the evening the party turned into what we called the " Storm Party" because it started to hail and rain pretty good. It didnt stop us though. The kids even kept on dancing!!!
Today we have another cookout to attend. We are going to our friends, Smyrna, David, and baby Milia's house. We always have a great time there too. If the weather stays nice, Jay plans on doing a photo shoot with Milia and maybe even me! He takes great pictures and he's gotten really good at touching up all my little blemishes for me! Haha!!
In other news, Jay found a baby copper head snake in one of our flower beds yesterday evening. It may have been small but it packed a punch or atleast tried to. Jay wanted to kill it but me being the animal person that I am said no to that so, he ever so gently put it in the woods. Of course, I ended up dreaming of snakes that night and regreting my decision not to have killed that thing, but oh well. It will get bigger and maybe even bring its siblings over for a visit. Lets hope not! Im actually hoping that it had moved on being ever so grateful to have been spared!!
Well, we hope that everyone is having a great weekend and will continue to have great days!! The time is coming near to welcome a new baby girl to the family. We will let you know when that time has arrived!

Mothers Day!

Well, although I may not officially have a little one calling me mommy, I was able to celebrate Mothers Day as a mom. I got many happy wishes and "almost there" comments. I am almost there or as Jay always reminds me that I say...omost there. I guess the country accent is thick sometimes.
Besides the amazing yet a little scary weather, the day was great. We went to a cookout at my mom's house and celebrated with my cousins, aunt and uncle, grandparents and extended family too. We were also celebrating my brother Jason's 27th birthday and a couple of wedding anniversaries. We had alot to be thankful for. A big thanks to Jay for cooking the hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats while being rained on. We tried to get him to stop, but he was relentless. Is that an Almers thing???
Anyway, in other news...madison continues to kick up a storm. Jay and I put her bedding on her crib. I have to admit we both had a few tears in our eyes. Her mobile was playing...we couldnt help it!!! We look forward to her arrival...SOON!!!

Almost time!!!

Well, I went to the docor on monday because when I woke up, my face was huge and my lips were even bigger. It was kinda funny but Jay and I knew I needed to be checked out. The doctor wasnt too concerned but she hooked me up to a fetal monitor and did a few blood tests. Everything came back great. She did, however, put me on a 3 day diet of nothing but fruit, milk, and eggs!!! Talk about hard to do!! She said it would take away some of the fluid thats been building up. Well, I did the diet for about 2 and a half days...okay maybe more like 2 days but it proved to work. I went back to the doctor on friday and had lost 3 pounds. So...if anyone out there needs a quick fix, just do the diet. Haha!!
Things are looking very good for us though. Maddie is doing very well and is now measuring a little ahead of me in weeks. At 34 and a half weeks, she was measuring to be 36 weeks. The doctor did assure me that I WAS NOT going to have a BIG baby. I was worried but still a little skeptical about it. You never know...Jay was a BIG boy!!
So, all is well in our household. I will be working for 2 more weeks and then its maternity leave for me..yeah!!! Jays work is going well. It keeps him very busy but he plans to take somewhat of a break very soon. Its saturday evening and we have a big night planned of pizza and a movie...it just doesnt get better than this!!!!!!

Back From Tablerock

Well, I know this doesn't really have to do with the baby...but this isn't a "baby-only blog" now is it? Besides I made the blog so I can make the rules :) Anyway, my good buddy Phil and I organized an attack on Tablerock located in Linville, North Carolina. The plan was to get there, setup camp, climb and conquer Tablerock, and then come home. [Click Here For Photos]

We arived Friday evening and were greeted by rainy and wet weather (around 3:00 AM). We setup camp, hung out with everyone for a bit then hit the rack for a couple hours prior to a HUGE day of climbing. We woke up Saturday morning and it was beautiful. Around 70 degrees and sunny with just a few fair-weather clouds in the sky. We proceeded to make our way to "The Chimneys" of Tablerock mountain. After about a half of a mile hike in, we arived to our destination. It was gorgeous. We got in, geared up, and went vertical. We had a "noobie" that had never been climbing before named Bobby...he rocked it (pardon the pun). For a first timer to go up on real rock is awesome, especially being out where we were. I made it up and down a couple of times and had a blast.

We then went back to camp only to be greeted by "Ranger Dan". After hours of interogation he finally left but not without giving out 10 "You are camping too close to the trail head" citations (can we say 10 x $75/each). All in all...that pretty much sucked. Then came the rain...

The forecast was not lying when it said "Rain on Sunday". There was no sliver of yellow on the little icon picture thingie...no fair weather clouds...just RAIN. It rained all night, all morning, all afternoon, the whole way back home. I even thought I felt a drop or two this morning. I have got to say this though, I had a great time.

Until next time...

Baby Shower!!!

WOW...what a great shower we had. Thanks so much to my mom, Tana, Sydney, Dad, Zina McKenzie, Julie, Billy, and everyone else that helped make it so special!!!
There were so many family and friends there. That really was the best part. We had people from Kentucky, Maryland, and even Florida coming to share our day with us. The food was good...the company was great...and the appreciation was endless!!!
It was very funny seeing the women search through their purses for things that started with the letters in Madison's name. Mandy, my sister in law, won that game! You never know what you may find in a womans purse!! It was even more funny watching the men drink from baby bottles as fast as they could. David, a friend, won that one!!! We got great pictures of that!!!
We want to thank everyone so very much for all the gifts for Maddie. We are very fortunate and will put everything to good use!!! Thanks again for sharing the occasion with us and make sure to check out the pictures!!!!
